THE BEST WAFFLES RECIPE EVER

INGREDIENTS

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 TBS granulated sugar
  • 2 ½ TBS baking powder
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 4 eggs separated
  • 3 ½ cups milk
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, sugar, baking powder, sea salt and cinnamon. Set aside.
  2. Preheat a waffle maker to medium heat (on our waffle maker we use “3”).
  3. Separate egg whites from yolks (make sure to save both parts of the egg)!
  4. Put whites in the bowl of your standing mixer and beat on high until stiff peaks form.
  5. Transfer beaten egg whites to a bowl and set aside in the refrigerator.
  6. Add egg yolks and butter to the bowl of your standing mixer and mix on medium speed until combined.
  7. Add milk, applesauce and vanilla extract and beat until combined.
  8. Add half of the dry ingredients and beat until combined.
  9. Repeat with remaining dry ingredients.
  10. Add beaten egg whites and fold into the batter by hand with a spatula.
  11. Spray waffle maker lightly with non-stick spray and scoop 1 cup of batter into the center of the waffle plates.
  12. Cook on medium heat for 3-5 minutes or until the waffles are golden brown.
  13. Repeat with remaining batter until it has all been used.
  14. To keep warm: preheat oven to “warm” setting and put each batch of waffles on a large baking sheet in the warm oven until ready to serve.
  15. Serve warm with maple syrup, whipped cream, fresh berries, etc.
